Unit 1

Introduction

Definitions of terms; purpose of the study; facts about Acts; some issues related to interpretation of the book; the focus of Acts. The background of Pentecost; Jesus' departure; the Upper Room experience; selection of Judas' replacement.

Unit 2

The Jewish Mission

Preparing for Pentecost and the first Jerusalem outpouring; Spirit-inspired witness in Jerusalem. The church as a powerful evangelistic force; facing persecution.

Unit 3

The Transitional Period

The witness of scattered believers; Philip's Spirit-empowered witness in Samaria; the Samaritan outpouring; Philip's Spirit-directed ministry in Gaza. Saul's conversion, healing, commissioning and empowering. A divine appointment; Peter goes to the Gentiles; the Holy Spirit is poured out on Gentiles; the door is opened.

Unit 4

The Gentile Mission
